| Fuming is a non-chemical process that darkens wood not only on the surface but throughout. When a finish is applied, a deep, rich and exotic look is achieved. Fuming is done by degrees - the longer the fuming the darker the color. Our fumed domestic birch and maple is offered in color values comparable to walnut while still providing the higher hardness properties. Other fumed species and colors are available in our made-to-order program. |
